Business Responsibility Simhuis BV

Enabling our people and products to create an impact on the environment and the well-being of our planet.

Samen creëren we verandering

Simhuis BV is committed to making a positive impact worldwide. We are fully committed to this, from our employees to our products and supply chain. We cherish and support the spirit of volunteering in our local communities. We encourage our employees to participate in community development, with an emphasis on ecology, education, sports, and health. In the development of our products, we invest in public awareness programs and follow green supply chain management to ensure that our products meet the highest standards of quality, ethics, and sustainability.

Building a fair and sustainable world

Supporting human rights and promoting global health are values dear to us at Simhuis. We take every possible step to ensure that this is respected throughout our global supply chain.

Green product policy

Protecting human health is of the utmost importance to Simhuis. To reduce the impact of hazardous substances on humanity, Simhuis uses the Green Product Management System (GPMS) to control hazardous substances in our supply chain. We always comply with local and international regulations regarding organic products.

EU regulation on batteries

EU Directive 2006/66/EC on waste batteries and accumulators (the "Battery Directive"), in force since 26 September 2008, aims to minimize the impact of waste batteries and accumulators on the environment and human health.

EU Packaging Regulation

Since 20 December 1994, EU Directive 94/62/EC has provided for measures to limit the production of packaging waste and to promote recycling, reuse, and other forms of waste recovery. The directive restricts the use of certain heavy metals in packaging (Hg, Pb, Cr6 , Cd) to protect the environment from hazardous substances and materials.

EU Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs)

Simhuis products comply with the POP Regulation and do not contain any prohibited substances listed in Annex I to Regulation (EU) 2019/1021.

PFOS-free

Simhuis considers it important that all products are designed and manufactured in accordance with EU Directive 757/2010/EC on the restriction of the use of perfluorooctanesulfonate (PFOS) in electronic components.

Montreal Protocol

The Montreal Protocol is an international treaty designed to protect the ozone layer by phasing out the production of numerous ozone-depleting substances. It was agreed upon on September 16, 1987, and entered into force on January 1, 1989.

Treaty of Rotterdam

The Rotterdam Convention is a multilateral treaty that promotes joint responsibility for the import of dangerous chemicals. The treaty was adopted on 10 September 1998 and entered into force on 24 February 2004.

Responsible purchasing

We are committed to making a difference through responsible sourcing and sustainable inventory management. The difference lies not only in compliance with regulations, but also in collaborating with our suppliers to achieve a positive and lasting impact.

Responsible purchasing and supplier responsibility

Simhuis has a proactive policy to ensure that the activities we undertake to produce and distribute products do not violate the laws or customs of the regions in which we operate, or adversely affect the rights of others. We strive to avoid the use of conflict minerals in our supply chain by following the Securities and Exchange Commission's "Conflict Minerals Policy".

Supply chain management

We believe that, in order to have a positive impact, it is necessary to enter into long-term strategic partnerships with strategic suppliers who share the same standards regarding quality, ethics, and sustainability. We aim to implement changes through sustainable inventory management and responsible sourcing, in close collaboration with our suppliers. We expect our suppliers to:

  • Sourcing materials from conflict-free minerals in the DRC
  • Ensuring that all components used for the manufacture of Simhuis products originate from certified conflict-free smelters that comply with the EICC CFS protocol, based on the CFS Compliant Smelter List.

Conflict-free supply chain

We are taking steps to ensure that the use of cassiterite (tin ore), tungsten (tungsten ore), coltan (tantalum ore), gold, and their derivatives is in compliance with Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, which was passed by the U.S. Congress in 2010. Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Act, enacted by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), requires companies to disclose whether their products contain conflict minerals necessary for the functioning or production of those products. We acknowledge that the latest SEC rule for Section 1502 requires our direct and indirect suppliers to exercise due diligence in their global supply chains. The extraction of certain minerals in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and neighboring countries contributes in part to human rights violations and the financing of armed conflicts in the region. Simhuis is committed to avoiding the use of conflict minerals in our supply chain by adhering to the SEC's Conflict Minerals Principle.
